America's Sacred Covenant

Preface

America's Sacred Covenant

From A Promised Land to Zion's Triumph

In the grand tapestry of human history, few nations have been endowed with a divine calling as extraordinary as that of America. This land, consecrated by the hand of God, stands as a beacon of hope, liberty, and righteousness—a nation set apart to fulfill a sacred covenant that echoes the promises made to ancient peoples in their covenant lands. From the moment Lehi’s family set foot on this continent, guided by divine visions recorded in the Book of Mormon (1 Nephi 2:2–4), to the pilgrims’ steadfast journey aboard the Mayflower seeking a new Zion, America has been marked by a providential purpose. This purpose is not a mere historical footnote but a living mandate, woven into the fabric of its founding and sustained by the faith of its people. America's Sacred Covenant: From Promised Land to Zion's Triumph is written with a fervent belief that America is not merely a political or cultural entity, but a divinely ordained land with a mission to lead the world toward unity, justice, and the ultimate triumph of God’s kingdom on earth. This mission, rooted in the covenant promises of old, calls for a people willing to rise above division and embrace their role as stewards of a land chosen for divine purposes.

This book is a heartfelt invitation to all who hold this nation dear—whether you are guided by the unwavering faith of scripture, inspired by the heroic chapters of history that shaped a nation from wilderness to world power, or compelled by a vision of a brighter future illuminated by divine grace and the light of Christ’s return. It is crafted for those who sense the weight of our times, when pride, division, and moral drift threaten to erode the sacred foundations upon which America was established. These foundations, laid by men and women inspired by heavenly guidance—such as the Founding Fathers who penned the Declaration of Independence with a reliance on divine providence (Declaration, 1776)—are now tested by the challenges of a modern age. At this critical juncture—marked by the trials of recent years, the moral crossroads of the early 2020s, and the divine mercy manifested in the 2024 election (2 Nephi 1:7)

we are called to remember the divine principles that have shaped this nation’s past and to recommit to the covenant that will secure its future. This covenant, articulated through the scriptures, the sacrifices of pioneers, and the prophetic voices of today, is a call to repentance, renewal, and resolute faith.

Drawing from the timeless truths of scripture, including the Book of Mormon’s warnings against secret combinations that undermine nations (Helaman 6:18–31),  the Bible’s call to be a light to the Gentiles (Isaiah 60:3), and the revelations of modern prophets (Doctrine and Covenants 101:77), this work seeks to chart the course from America’s founding as a promised land to its divine destiny as a Zion-like society, radiant with God’s truth and grace. The lessons of history—spanning the Nephite civilization’s rise and fall, the American Revolution’s fight for liberty, and the Civil War’s struggle for unity—serve as both cautionary tales and beacons of hope. The guiding light of providence, evident in the establishment of the Constitution as a heavenly banner (Doctrine and Covenants 101:80) and the resilience of a people who turned to God in times of crisis, illuminates the path forward. This book is not merely a reflection on the past or a theological discourse confined to academic debate; it is a clarion call to action, a rallying cry for a nation at a crossroads.

The chapters that follow explore the sacred covenant God has made with this nation—a covenant rooted in faith, humility, and obedience to His will. They recount the trials of a people striving to align with divine purpose, from the Nephite struggles against apostasy and pride to the American Revolution’s battle for freedom, and the consequences of straying from that path, as seen in the moral decay of recent decades (Alma 37:28).

Yet, they also offer hope that through repentance, unity, and steadfast devotion, America can rise to fulfill its eternal calling. This hope is not a passive dream but a call to active engagement—urging every reader to engage in daily prayer, to seek personal righteousness through the Holy Spirit’s guidance (Mosiah 3:19), and to contribute to the collective effort to preserve this nation from the fate of fallen empires like ancient Jerusalem, which faltered when it turned from God (2 Chronicles 36:15–16), or the Nephites, who succumbed to internal corruption (Mormon 6:16–22).

As you turn these pages, may you feel the stirring of the Holy Spirit, awakening your soul to the sacred responsibility we share as stewards of this promised land. May you find inspiration in the stories of faith and resilience that have defined America’s journey—from the courage of the Founding Fathers who risked all for liberty, to the pioneers who crossed plains with unwavering trust in divine guidance, to the prophetic voice of Charlie Kirk, whose call to liberty has ignited a new generation with a vision of redemption. May you be moved to join in a united effort to uphold its covenant, drawing strength from the promise of Zion’s triumph (Doctrine and Covenants 97:21) and the assurance that a righteous people can overcome any adversary. This is a call to build a society where the pure in heart dwell (Moses 7:18), where justice rolls down like waters (Amos 5:24), and where the light of Christ prepares the way for His Second Coming.

Let us pray fervently, as one people under God, for the wisdom to guide our leaders through these turbulent times, the strength to heal our divisions with love and forgiveness (John 13:34–35), and the courage to stand as a beacon of righteousness in a world yearning for hope. This prayer is not a solitary act but a collective plea, echoing the gatherings of ancient Israel and the modern saints who seek to establish Zion. Together, with hearts turned to the Savior, we can ensure that America not only endures but flourishes, moving ever closer to the triumph of Zion under the merciful hand of our Creator. This triumph is not an end but a beginning—a new era where the principles of liberty, faith, and divine order prevail, fulfilling the covenant promises made to this land and its people.

This preface sets the stage for a journey through America’s covenant history, a narrative of divine purpose that calls for both reflection and action. It is a story of a land set apart, a people chosen, and a destiny yet to be fully realized. As we navigate the challenges of our day—economic uncertainty, cultural fragmentation, and global threats—we are reminded that the power to shape this future lies within our hands, guided by the hand of God. Let this book be a guide and a rallying cry as we seek to fulfill the sacred destiny entrusted to us, ensuring that America remains a light on a hill, a testament to the enduring power of a covenant kept.
